The lock is made of metal covered with white plastic and rubber.

The lock is lockable with a key. It does not need to be removed when you want to open the window wider.

When closed, the lock allows you to tilt the window, but prevents you from opening it wider. The strong metal connection will not easily be damaged or cut.
